I would like to voice my agreement in response to Tim Rutten’s “Catholic periodicals laud scandal coverage” (Tempo, May 8), on the media coverage of the church scandal. Though much of the media’s coverage has been necessary and truthful, some of it has begun to suffer from bias, ignorance and anger.
Now is the time to move forward and address reforms for sexual abuse in America; there is little more that can be accomplished by bloating the press with coverage of this minority group of offenders. After all, sexual abuse is a problem that all of America must face, not just the church.
