Thomas C. Favale Sr., 66, a gentle giant of a man, died of complications from Multiple Myeloma on Wednesday, May 15 in the loving embrace of his family, at his home in St. Charles. Tom, a school business official at West Chicago Elementary School District 33, was passionate about life, his family and his second family at work. He was especially fond of all types of music and enjoyed spending time with nature and his pets. Born and raised in Chicago, Tom developed a love for the city, its people and architecture. He attended school at Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica and St. Ignatius High School. He received a B.S. Degree in marketing from DePaul University and an M.S. in education from Northern Illinois University. He began his career as an employee of United Airlines and made a career change to education. For over 40 years Tom also delivered the Chicago Tribune to customers throughout the Chicago suburbs. Survivors include his wife, Adrienne, nee Meltz, of 42 years; his children, Thomas (Rochelle) Favale Jr., Jennifer (Laddie) Polz, Erin Sanchez, Paul (Melodi) Favale, Heather Favale and Elizabeth (Qian) Guo; grandchildren include Thomas III, Nicholas, Caitlyn, Patrick, Jack, Sydney, Samantha, Joseph, Ryan and Blake; other survivors include his mother, Mona Cataluna; brother, Dennis Favale; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Favale; sister, Angela Schuler; and son-in-law, Joseph Sanchez. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite Humane Society. “A was a man.
