Michael Sikula, 91, of Huntley, the owner of Pinewood Ranch in Huntley, where he raised and bred quarterhorses, died Tuesday, May 14, in Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Mr. Sikula immigrated to the U.S. in 1922 and settled with his family in Chicago. He worked at Rainbow Stables in Chicago, where he became interested in breeding horses and in 1967, he moved to a farm in Huntley and operated Pinewood Ranch there. In the 1960s he was director of the Illinois Quarter Horse Association in Elk Grove Village and vice president of Land of Lincoln Quarter Horse Association in Aurora in the 1970s. He is survived by his wife, Terry; five daughters, Joann Lockwood, Marilyn Morris, Margaret Boris, Carol Russell and Jody Kopfer; four sons, Mickey, Mikey, Randy and Jeff; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in James A. O’Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley. Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
