In the last few months there has been plenty of priest bashing and Catholic Church trashing, be it via television, radio or newspaper. And I as a Catholic say enough is enough.
I know there have been priests who have committed crimes and I know if they are guilty that justice will prevail. My thoughts and prayers are for the victims, but we must also forgive the sinners, for who among us is without sin?
I know there are many more good priests than bad–priests who are caring, kind and hardworking; priests we never hear about who tend and comfort the sick and feed and clothe the poor. We need to speak for them.
We as Catholics need to be more vocal and stand up for our faith and our church.
We must not let the media sully where we pray and come together as a family, as brothers and sisters. For what they do to the church, they do to us.
We must stay united and praise our church and our priests.
When we need comfort and guidance we turn to the church. Now the church needs us. Let us be there for it because it needs our comfort and our prayers.
