Instead of applauding the progress workers have made in Western European countries, the May 7 editorial headline uses the word “scandal” to describe important benefits, such as four to six weeks of annual vacations and reasonable job protection. As usual, you’re towing the hard line of U.S.-style capitalism while ignoring the fact that versions with a more human touch have been successful and should be tried here.
