John Gerald Lambertsen, 86, died peacefully at his home in Flossmoor, IL on May 23, 2002 from Kidney Cancer. Mr. Lambertsen was born October 3, 1915 in Troy, NY, graduating from Troy HS as Class President and Valedictorian in 1933, Mr. Lambertsen obtained his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1938, and served as Lt. Colonel in the Army Corp. of Engineering during its WWII construction of the oil pipeline in Alaska. After 32 years Mr. Lambertsen retired from Amoco Chemicals Corporation in 1978 as Executive Vice President of Marketing. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Audrey, nee Bishop; daughter, Karen also of Flossmoor and Son, John of Las Vegas, NV. Memorials may be made in his name to The Morton Arboretum, Development Department, 4100 Illinois Rte. 53, Lisle, IL 60532-1293 (www.mortonarb.org). Interment will be at the Columbarium of Flossmoor Community Church. Services will be private.
