George J. Matkov. Services for George J. Matkov, of Schaumburg, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Innocents, 425 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, (corner of Illinois and W. Thacker, 1/4 mi. W. of Roselle Rd.). Born Oct. 24, 1916, he died Saturday, June 1, 2002. He was a graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, IL in 1938 and served in the Naval Reserves as an Ensign during WWII. His career was in labor relations, and he worked for American Steel Foundry, the Maytag Co. and Schlitz Brewing Corp. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; a son, George J. Matkov Jr. of Chicago; a daughter, Mary Heller of Montana; a sister, Emily Hoover of Lisle; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two children, Teresa and Thomas; two brothers, Albert and Thomas; and a sister, Helen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knox College, 2 E.
