Elgin-based School District 46 has approved new boundary plans to take effect in fall 2003.

When the boundaries were drafted, some residents objected to plans that called for groups of 10 to 15 pupils to attend a middle school different from the school that most of their elementary classmates would attend.

The school board approved the plan this week but told the Enrollment and Facilities Committee to address residents’ concerns next year, when the panel sets boundaries for the new high school and elementary schools.

Pupils from Clinton, Fox Meadow and Willard Elementary Schools in South Elgin and pupils from Garfield Elementary in Elgin and Nature Ridge Elementary in Bartlett will attend the new middle school at 1699 Raymond St., South Elgin.

Pupils who attend Wayne Elementary and live west of Illinois Highway 59 and pupils who attend Huff Elementary and live south of U.S. Highway 20 will also attend the new school, which will open in fall 2003 with about 695 children.
