Robin Whitmore, of Palatine, age 64, died unexpectedly on June 2, 2002 at Evanston Hospital. He was born in Peoria on Nov. 10, 1937. Memorial Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Palatine on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m., with memorial visitation at 10 a.m. A devoted husband and father, Robin will be remembered by the many friends, colleagues and neighbors, whose lives he touched. An engineer for WGN TV for 35 years, Robin was a talented camera man who received numerous awards in his career, including an Emmy for his coverage and heroism during the Jimmy Tontlewicz lake rescue in 1984. He was a great mentor to his colleagues through his teaching and professionalism. His passion and devotion to his family and career reflected his honest and generous heart. Robin was active in community theatre, both in the spotlight and backstage at Cornstalk and Peoria Players. Survived by wife, Patti; children, Tod, Tim and Melinda; daughter-in-law, Kate; grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy; siblings, Mariana, Martha and Scott; preceded by parents, Marian Wilton and Robert Pierce Whitmore. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Palatine.
