Joseph P. Costello, 78, of Montgomery, IL died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Alden of Waterford in Aurora, IL. He was born May 18, 1924 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Patrick and Mary, nee Dayton. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII serving aboard the USS New Jersey and USS Wisconsin. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Illinois Bell and Copley Memorial Hospital in the maintenance division. He was a life member of the Montgomery Memorial VFW Post #7452, The Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wifer Betty L., nee Hupton, Costello; 3 daughters Judith (Richard) Strauss of McFarland, WI, Carol Young of Monterey, CA, Cathy (Mark) Young of Sebastopol, CA and a son Gerald (Rita) Geeman of Anderson, IN; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister Patricia Nemec of Westchester, IL; two brothers James (Mary) Costello of Crestwood, IL; David Costello of Chicago, IL and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Rosemary Ott and Susan VanDusen. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2002 at 11 a.m. at McKeown-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd., Oswego, IL. Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2002 at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
