Mary Florence Shaw, nee Kagan, 77, passed away June 13, 2002, in Chicago, IL. She was born July 21, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Morris and Goldie Kagan, and sister to Marvin Kagan. Mary married Joseph Shaw on July 9, 1942, and was beloved mother to three children, Susan (Barry) Ekman, Ilene Shaw and Bruce (Judy) Shaw. She was a mother, homemaker and avid expert bridge player, and then, in 1966, Mary returned to school and became licensed as a Public School teacher. Mary taught in the neediest Chicago Public schools from 1966-1988, when she retired. After she retired Mary blossomed again, revelling in travel, opera, theater and cinema. Her family meant the world to Mary, and she means the world to them. Mary is survived by her brother, her three children, and two children-in-law, her six grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at Piser Weinstein Menorah Chapels, in Skokie, on Sunday June 16, 2002; details may be obtained by calling 847-679-4740.
