Hubert O. Ewing, 92, a resident of Arlington Heights for more than 50 years and a longtime employee of the A.B. Dick Co. in Niles, died Wednesday, July 3, in Manor Care Health Center in Arlington Heights. Mr. Ewing was born in 1909 in the small farming community of Ridge Farm, Ill. He graduated from Ridge Farm High School and attended Marquette University for a year. Mr. Ewing worked 31 years in inventory control at A.B. Dick Co. until his retirement in 1974. Mr. Ewing was a fisherman and a member of a metal-detecting club. He often volunteered to go to people’s homes to help find lost valuables, and he used old high school yearbooks to return school rings to their owners. “He was always ready to help anyone. Whatever was needed, he would always volunteer,” said his son Daniel. Other survivors include another son, David; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights.
