There are those who think that a belief in a Judeo-Christian God is a prerequisite to being a patriotic American. This nation was founded on the principle that church and state should be kept separate. The fact is that true patriots come in all religious stripes, as well as in no religious stripes. Pledging allegiance to this great country of ours and praising liberty and justice for all has absolutely nothing to do with God or religion. The easy solution to the pledge controversy is not to ban it but to remove the “under God” clause.
