As I was reading “Gunman’s bullet misses French leader” (Page 1, July 15), about the assassination attempt on French President Jacques Chirac, I was pleasantly surprised to read that this year’s Bastille Day Parade was dedicated to Franco-American friendship and included New York City firefighters. What a considerate gesture that I find really heartwarming.
Then I realized that if it hadn’t been for the assassination attempt, I never would have known about this kind gesture. That is sad.
I think we need to hear more stories about the good stuff if we are going to be a peaceful global community.
