The Chicago Department of Transportation is urging visitors to use public transportation to attend Venetian Night Saturday night along the lakefront.
The city also warned of traffic congestion to and from Comiskey Park, where the White Sox are playing this weekend, and near the Taste of Lincoln Avenue and Fiesta Del Sol street festivals.
The Chicago Transit Authority will run longer trains and extra buses to accommodate Venetian Night’s lighted boat parade from the Shedd Aquarium to Monroe Harbor at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Fireworks afterward can be viewed from Navy Pier and Grant Park.
Longer elevated and subway trains will run through the Loop on the Red, Blue, Brown, Green and Orange Lines until midnight. Red, Blue and Brown Line trains also will run more frequently throughout the evening.
The No. 124 Navy Pier Express buses will run every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to midnight. Extra buses will run through the day on Nos. 29 State, 56 Milwaukee, 66 Chicago and 60 Blue Island/26th routes.
After the fireworks, extra buses will run on Nos. 6 Jeffery Express, 62 Archer, 146 Marine/Michigan Express and 151 Sheridan routes.
