I’m tired of all those snobs who don’t know when to use “a” or “an.” I’m referring to those who refer to “an historic event” or “an historic occasion.”

The correct usage is to use “a” in front of a word that begins with a consonant–such as “a historic event.”

Put it this way:

Do you live in “an home” or pound a nail with “an hammer”?

Certainly not.

People who speak this way are trying to sound stuffy, but instead they just sound ignorant.
