As I read the Oct. 14 letter to the editor complaining of how a picture of a dead deer in the Oct. 6 Tribune Magazine was too graphic (“Insensitive photos”), I glanced back to the front page and found a picture of dead bodies of victims of the deadly terrorist attack in a Bali disco. I wondered: How can someone read the paper and be offended by a picture of a dead deer? We all see road kill daily.

I seem to find the thought of mass murder a little more startling than a dead animal.

But hey, after all, I am not a vegetarian. I’m a human.
