Leonard N. Nyquist, age 88, of Toledo, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 in St. Luke’s Hospital. Leonard served his country in the Army during WWII where he was stationed in France. He worked for the Chicago Tribune as a delivery driver until retiring in 1977. He was a member of Teamsters Local 706. He was given an award by the Chicago Tribune for his many years of accident free service. After retirement he and his beloved wife, Vera, moved briefly to Gladstone, MI, an area they loved. Later they moved to Toledo. Leonard was a quiet man who loved flowers and was devoted to his wife Vera. After her death in 1995 he would make daily trips to the cemetery to visit and leave her a rose. Leonard is survived by his nieces Cheryl Nyquist, Jeannie Shultz, Lenett Poitras and nephew Gary Simons; and sisters-in-law Shirley Szymanski and Opal Glemp. Preceding him in death were his wife Vera in May 1995; and his parents. Friends may call at the Urbanski Funeral Home, LaGrange at Dexter Street, Toledo, OH, 419-244-4611 , Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. when funeral services will begin in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
