On two occasions recently I have seen Frank Thomas referred to as “the best player in the history of the White Sox.” Those who have that sense of history must be among those who think Germany was on our side during WWII.
Frank has been good, but I have to say, they must know nothing of Luke Appling, Ted Lyons, Billy Pierce, Nellie Fox and Luis Aparicio.
And baseball records indicate that although they were before my time, Ed Walsh, Joe Jackson and others are, and always will be, more highly regarded than Thomas.
