Matteo “Matthew” Maggio, 70, of Freeport, IL, died Oct. 15, 2002 at home. He was born Nov. 16, 1931, the son of Joseph and Elisa Maggio, in Chicago. He married Carol Gardner in 1956. He taught at Jackson and Jefferson Junior High Schools and Willowbrook High School, all in Villa Park, IL, for 30 years. Matteo is survived by his wife; daughters, Lisa (Thomas Reilly) and Frances (Roger Reeves); granddaughters, Lily Reeves and Nyssa Reilly; brothers, Andrew and Sam; sister, Rosalie Davis; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial buffet luncheon will be held on his 71st birthday, Nov. 16, at Cucina Paradiso, 814 North Boulevard in Oak Park, IL, between 1 and 4 p.m., for relatives, friends and former students.
