I read with disbelief architecture critic Blair Kamin’s critique of a yet-to-be-finished Soldier Field. One of his major gripes is that fans inside the stadium won’t be able to see the Doric columns from inside the stadium.
May I remind him that the view of those columns was already 75 percent blocked with those obnoxious boxes that were unceremoniously inserted there years ago?
Besides, most people will be viewing the columns from outside the stadium, and the structures rising above the columns may actually make the columns stand out.
