MUNSTER, Ind. — When will [Blair] Kamin get it out of his system? (“Bowled under,” Oct. 30.) His whining is growing old.
We have the new Soldier Field because none of the varied and many special interest groups of Chicago could put aside, for one minute, their egos. I haven’t read one reasonably detailed plan advanced by Kamin. Tell him to get over it.
Indianapolis has built four major sports event venues while Chicago wrung its collective hands and basically got what it deserved.

Model of intolerance
NAPERVILLE — I meant to write last week, regarding Mr. Cohen’s (“Everyday Ethics,” Oct. 29) answer to the person who was offended by the orthodox Jew who wouldn’t shake her hand. But better late than never.
Mr. Cohen’s answer was an incredible model of intolerance. In this day of political correctness and non-judgmentalness, would he have given such an answer regarding the peculiarities of behavior of an Arab, a Chinese person, a devout Buddhist, etc? I doubt it.
Orthodox Jews are taught that there is to be no physical contact between men and women who are not married to each other. This is to avoid even the appearance of illicit sexual behavior. Do I, a liberal Jew, believe such extreme behavior is necessary to protect one’s reputation? No. But I respect those who do believe that.
Perhaps the woman who wrote it was offended, but she should have taken the time to consider the reasons the Realtor couldn’t shake her hand, and respected them.
