Seeing as how I am a teenager about to start driver’s ed, I’ve been leafing through my “Rules of the Road” handbook. It seems to me that more people ought to do so. The Illinois secretary of state’s office gives them out for free.

On my way home from school recently, my mom and I were stopped at a red light. The light turned green, and we had to wait while three drivers went through the red light.

I was aware that it is the Chicago mindset that yellow lights mean “speed up,” but I was not aware that red lights meant “keep going.” The city could be saving all kinds of money by not putting up new stoplights because it seems that no one follows them anyway. Even if they do stop on the red, they leave before the light turns green.

I feel that these adult drivers are giving teenagers a bad name. They complain that teenagers are such horrible, irresponsible drivers, when in actuality they themselves are as bad if not worse.
