– The 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, a sport-utility vehicle that shares the Saturn VUE platform, will be assembled in Canada, but its engine will come from China. Shanghai GM, a joint venture between General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., will build the 3.4-liter V-6, a variant of an engine used in the Chevy Impala and Venture and other GM models.
– Base prices for the Nissan Murano, a car-based sport-utility that goes on sale in December, are $28,199 for the SL model and $28,999 for the SE, both with front-wheel-drive. All-wheel-drive adds $1,600 to the price of both, which come with a 3.5-liter V-6 and continuously variable transmission. The prices do not include the $540 destination charge.
– Cunningham Motor Co., the would-be developer of a $250,000 sports car with the backing of General Motors Corp., has shut down after being hit by a lawsuit from co-founder Briggs Cunningham. Cunningham and Bob Lutz, now a vice chairman of GM, co-founded Cunningham Motor in 2000. GM invested in Cunningham after hiring Lutz last year. Earlier this year, GM raised its stake in Cunningham Motor to $2 million, or about 23 percent. Cunningham Motor aimed to introduce in about two years the C-7 Grand Touring coupe, a V-12, all-wheel-drive coupe priced at about $250,000.
