Eugene Robert Ischinger Sr., of Houston, TX, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, to Myrtle and Elmer Ischinger; and brother to Betty Jane Ischinger, all of whom predeceased him. Raised in Oak Park, IL and resident of Arlington Heights, IL for 23 years and Boonton, NJ for 17 years. He recently resided in Algonquin, IL for two years and Houston, TX for the past year. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan Movius Ischinger; and their four children: Debra (Richard) Batta of Rockaway, NJ, Julie (Bryan) Lane of Houston, TX, Eugene (Jill) Ischinger Jr., of Campobello, SC, and David (Valerie) Ischinger of Oxford, NJ. Also survived by five loving grandchildren: Heidi and Eric Lane, and Drew, Kaitlyn and Jenna Ischinger. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Judy MacPherson and husband Bill, Diana Rathbun and husband Mike; and four loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Ischinger was a graduate of Oak Park – River Forest High School, Oak Park, IL and Roosevelt College, Chicago, IL. He was employed by Hartwell Corporation, Placentia, CA for over 30 years, having retired in 1999. He was a founding member of the Arlington Heights Auxiliary Police Department where he served Arlington Heights, IL for over 15 years. He was an enthusiast of boating, hunting and woodworking. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and a friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a charity of choice.
