Gene Edwin Cartwright, age 70, of Lake Carroll, IL and formerly of Glen Ellyn, IL, died Sunday, November 10, 2002 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Rockford, IL. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2002 at the Lanark United Methodist Church, Lanark, IL. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2002 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Route 64 and East Street, Mt. Carroll, IL. His college major was in speech and he had a desire to support future students in this discipline. And because of this, memorials may be made to Communication Arts Complex at Muskingum College in New Concord, OH in Gene’s name. He began a twenty-seven year career with Amoco Oil Corporation in 1966, working in several different capacities. At the time of his retirement in 1993 he was Corporate Manager of Community and Urban Affairs. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Lake Carroll, IL; one daughter, Betsy (Kevin) Kruse of Washington Crossing, PA; three sons, Jeffrey (Cindy) Cartwright of Sandwich, IL, Peter (Rebecca) Cartwright of Johnson, IA and Mark (Mary Clarie) Cartwright of West Lafayette, IN; nine grandchildren.
