Thanks for your article (“Toe the line — or they’ll tow your car,” Nov. 13). I can relate to the people getting towed and booted as this happened to me two weekends ago near North and Sheffield.
The Best Buy lot was overflowed as usual on a Saturday, and I saw a person leave from the CVS parking lot across the street so I snatched it up. Fifteen minutes later I returned to my car to find a boot on in. Just then I was able to pick out the team of booters ducking behind cars to spy on those leaving the lot. My car was held hostage for $100.
The difference versus what you wrote about is that instead of towing or booting seven to eight cars per day, this lot was getting 10+ cars per hour. It was so frustrating to see the money exchanging hands. What a sham. How is it that the city has to wait until you have three outstanding tickets before they boot while a private lot can boot within minutes?
