Bernice E. Brack, 63, of Chicago, a receptionist and member services coordinator at the Society of American Archivists in Chicago for 23 years, died of heart failure Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Ms. Brack’s colleagues knew her for her “astronomical memory” of more than 3,000 society members, including their names, birthdays and family histories, said a co-worker, Carroll Dendler. Ms. Brack was born in Mississippi and moved with her family to Chicago, where she graduated from Manley High School. Her marriage ended in divorce in 1972. In 1979 she began work as a receptionist for the Society of American Archivists and 15 years ago became meetings and member services coordinator. Her side job was catering, and she enjoyed working parties attended by former President Bill Clinton and other politicians and celebrities, said her daughter Edrea Jones. Survivors also include two other daughters, Enid Mitchell and Erin Brack; three sons, Semiel, Sean and Sergio; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services are being planned.
