Paul V. Erickson, 92, of Lake Wauhob, Valparaiso, IN, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2002, beloved husband of the late Florence F. Erickson; cherished father of Paul R. (Betty) Erickson of Richton Park, IL and Lee V. Pugh of Philadelphia; loving grandfather of Yvonne, Paul, Michael, Aimee, Elizabeth and David; great-grandfather of Nicole, Christopher and Gabriel; brother of the late Mildred Pekelsma. Paul was born in Chicago, IL, November 19, 1909 to Axel and Anna Erickson, nee Valentine, graduated from Englewood High School and the University of Illinois. He was a teacher and basketball coach in the Chicago Public Schools, at Marshall, Gage Park and Chicago Vocational High Schools, coaching his teams to several City Championships in the 1940’s and 1950’s. In his retirement, Paul swam at the YMCA almost daily, and was an avid bridge player. A memorial service of gratitude and praise will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 11:30 a.m. at Bartholomew Funeral Home, Valparaiso, IN. Info 708-747-9143.
