What comes around goes around.
That saying appears to be most appropriate as we view this historic mid-term election. As one who watched with excitement as state after state recorded a victory for the GOP, I found myself thinking in terms of the fairness element.
From the unseemly, continual questioning of the legitimacy of our nation’s president, unprecedented judgeship vacancies, unfinished senatorial priority business, Jim Jeffords’ jump, the New Jersey shuffle, to the Paul Wellstone rally, American citizens looked on with disgust as the “winning at all cost” mantra appeared to be what moved one party.
Today it is apparent that obstructionism for the sake of obstructionism has no place in our body politic.
Thankfully this election reinforced my faith in the American people and their requirement that fairness be displayed.
The notion that “winning at all cost” must end. Today all must be pleased that our nation’s leadership has shown fairness in its tone and actions. And it is assuring that to be considered a true leader one needs to work in a fair and thoughtful way.
