Ethel Mae Graves Blomquist, nee Milhouse, 90, of Williams Bay, WI and Siesta Key, FL, died October 30, 2002 in Sarasota, FL. She was born November 18, 1911 in Chicago, IL. She is survived by two sons, John P. Graves Jr. of Sarasota, FL, Jim (Donna) Graves of DeKalb, IL; six grandchildren, Pamela W. Graves of Park City, UT, Kristen, Karron, Kia and Kelly Graves of New York City, NY, Kevin (Letitia) Graves of Monpellier, France; two great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Emmy Lou Graves of France; and her constant companion and friend – her Yorkshire Terrier, “Pete”. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John P. Graves and Alex C. Blomquist Jr.; a daughter, Donna Lee Graves; three brothers, Bill, Don and Jim Milhouse; and a sister, Arline Milhouse. She owned and operated A-1 Calculating, Inc. which she started with a single typewriter in her home and developed it into a highly successful temporary employment service on the northwest side of Chicago. She was a member of numerous business organizations and charitable and social groups in the Chicago and suburban area. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists in Lake Geneva. She loved her church, family, and friends. She and her husband Alex C. were members of the Lake Geneva Country Club. She loved animals and cared for and became a dedicated “dogwalker” for the Lakeland Animal Shelter. She was a long-time Republican Party member, supporter, and committee chair. She was a supporter and friend of Senator Charles Percy and President Richard Milhouse Nixon. She enjoyed fine arts, The Lyric Opera, theater, and loved and lived her life to its fullest.
