A recent incident at a high school play I attended prompted me to write this letter. These young people put their hearts and souls into very enjoyable play, only to be interrupted at least three times by ringing cell phones. My immediate thought was: How disrupting and discouraging this must have been to the young performers.

Cell phones do have a valuable function in our lives, but we have not learned the proper time and place for them.

It seems that as a society we are totally obsessed with these gadgets. Instead of being in control of our lives, these phones are controlling us.
