GLENVIEW — With some amusement I always enjoy reading articles about jeans (“Jean therapy,” Nov. 7).
I am of the generation that invented the female wearing-of-jeans-for-fun.
It was 1939 in Evansville, Ind., when a group of us started the Mounted Troop of the local Girl Scouts. We would go to the men’s department or farm store and station one of us outside the fitting room while others did the hilarious trying-on.
We didn’t worry about style, and fit meant comfort. I still wear jeans (I’m 78) most of the time, but kids and grandkids deplore their comfortable fit.
