Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

GoBox aims to speed Web surfing by getting the browser out of the way. Like the popular Mac OS utilities Watson and Sherlock, it provides a simple interface to pipe a query to popular sites, then display the results.

It relies heavily on Yahoo’s Web, news and map search features (Google and AOL are alternatives for Web queries) but also includes eBay auctions, MSN online shopping, Whitepages.com and Yellowpages.com phone look-ups, and Fandango movie times.

People can also set their Zip code to get more relevant movie results and a local weather forecast, but the promised stock-ticker updates didn’t work well, nor did any search on stock quotes.

The program is free to try but $20 to register–or you can get it free by referring three other people to it. For more details, go online at www.gobox.net.
