Adeline “Joan” Galecki, 83, of Wheaton, a homemaker and former longtime employee of La Grange Memorial Hospital, died of heart failure Monday, Nov. 18, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Galecki was born in Chicago and raised on the city’s South Side in St. Anne’s Parish. She worked for several years in the family grocery store on 18th Street. She graduated from high school and business college and worked at Spiegel and Montgomery Ward & Co. in Chicago. After marrying her husband of 58 years, Edmund, she became a full-time mother and was very involved in her children’s activities. After moving to La Grange in 1953, Mrs. Galecki took an office job at ElectroMotive and later at La Grange Memorial Hospital. She worked for more than 20 years at the hospital in the business department until she retired in 1984. Family members said Mrs. Galecki was a capable athlete and played golf on a regular basis. Other survivors include her husband; three sons, Glenn, Gary and Gregg; three daughters, Gloria, Gwynne McMahon, and Gail Roy; a sister, Mabel Brodzinski; and 14 grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 101 West Loop Drive, Wheaton.
