Coach Bill Cartwright was unhappy with the starters after their lackluster performance Tuesday night against Sacramento, in which the Bulls’ reserves outscored the starters 68-30.
In full view of his teammates, Jamal Crawford challenged captain and team leader Jalen Rose about his leadership and defensive effort against the Kings.
According to several witnesses, Crawford questioned Rose in the locker room after Tuesday night’s game.
Rose, already unhappy with only playing nine second-half minutes, held up a box score as Crawford exited the showers, showing Peja Stojakovic’s 3-for-11 shooting performance.
Cartwright let his rotation speak for him.
It featured the starters playing only a combined 32 minutes in the second half against the Kings.
“I was disappointed with that first group,” Cartwright said. “They were just not very good offensively or defensively. They didn’t share the ball. Defensively, they did not step up–period.”
