Cook County Board President John Stroger was released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, one day after he became disoriented during a board meeting and was rushed to the hospital.
Stroger, 73, had inadvertently taken too much of his diabetes medication Tuesday morning, causing his blood-sugar level to drop, Stroger’s spokeswoman, Caryn Stancik, said.
Stroger immediately began to respond after paramedics, treating him in the boardroom, gave him a shot of glucose. But doctors decided to keep him overnight for observation.
Stroger, who was elected to a third term as president two weeks ago, is expected to preside over meetings Thursday where the 2003 county and forest preserve budgets will be adopted.
