George Mulick, 77, of Lisle, a former executive general sales manager at the Electro-Motive division of General Motors, died of heart failure Monday, Nov. 18 in his home. Mr. Mulick was born in Omaha. He graduated from Creighton University High School in Omaha and enrolled in the school’s university. His education was interrupted when he was drafted into the Navy in World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Omaha where he met his future wife, Elizabeth. The couple married in 1947 and moved to La Grange when Mr. Mulick was hired as an engine tester for GM. He transferred to sales, working his way up to executive general sales manager. He retired in 1986 after working there more than 39 years. “He lived for that job. He loved that industry. The railroad was a large part of his family’s life,” his son, Joe, said. Mr. Mulick began a quest to find his family’s history after his retirement and wrote three books about his family, his mother’s family and the family of his wife, who died in 1979. “It became a full-time job for him. . . . He created a legacy to pass on to everyone and they can pass it onto their family,” said his daughter, Patricia Steele. Other survivors include another son, Michael; a brother, John; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Adams-Winterfield and Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove. Services will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 820 Division St., Lisle.
