Marlow J. Madden, 100, died Nov. 21 in Manor Oaks nursing home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was born in Keene, NH on April 30, 1902. His late wife was Louise Erb Madden, an attorney and court reporter. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara M. Peterson (Donald W.) of Park Ridge; his granddaughter, Amy Peterson (Robert Kiley) of Sussex, WI and his grandson, Andrew D. Peterson of Wheeling. He was president of his 1925 law school class at Kent Law School. He and his wife were honored in 1975 by the Illinois State Bar Assn. as senior counsellors for having practiced law in Illinois for 50 years. In 1932, he was a founding partner of the Chicago Loop law firm of Madden, Meccia and Meyer, with the late John Blase Meccia and Kenneth G. Meyer. Meyer served as mayor of Des Plaines from 1949-57. Madden was an inveterate traveller who had visited more than 100 countries. He and his wife survived a predawn Northwest Orient airplane crash into the Pacific Ocean in 1960, spending several hours in a life raft before being rescued. His late mother, Pauline Schuman Madden, was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1915, among the first women lawyers in Illinois. Donations to the charity of your choice. Interment private.
