This is regarding the incoherent logic presented by Joe Vecchio’s letter “Paying taxes” (Voice of the people, Nov. 19). He wants all of us who voted Republican to save our paychecks from today to compare taxes paid today to taxes that we will be paying in 2004.
Although nobody I know is looking for Vecchio’s approval to vote Republican in 2004, he feels you are allowed to vote Republican if you end up paying less money in taxes in 2004 than what you are paying now.
This logic is ludicrous. I cannot speak for Vecchio’s place of employment, but for me, I am used to a decent pay raise and a little more tax every year.
Therefore, his contention of paying less taxes each subsequent year is meaningless to me and many I know. I am not sure if Vecchio ever heard of something called common sense.
I cannot believe this guy comes up with a logic that is flawed to begin with and has the audacity to call the people who continue to vote Republicans idiots who deserve what they get.
