Steve Chapman is frighteningly correct on what could go wrong if the U.S. decides to invade Iraq. There will be complete chaos in the Middle East, plus severe economic instability all over because of soaring oil prices.
On the same Commentary page on Nov. 17, Clarence Page severely warns us of the consequences of the Homeland Security Act with his column, “Beware: Uncle Sam wants all of your data.”
That which is supposed to give people here in the U.S. security is going to destroy it. The bill will make every person with a Social Security card, a credit card and a driver’s license subject to invasion of their private affairs.
And who is being put in charge to see that this desecration is taking place?
None other than John Poindexter, who was caught red-handed participating in Iran Contra. I have to pinch myself to see who’s running this country.
