Regarding riots after football games, could it be that there are now many students who don’t really belong in college? We are constantly told how American students are not achieving, are behind their peers in other countries and need remedial instruction even while in college. Why should we be surprised that when students are having a hard time hacking it at college, they wander into misbehavior, be it mischievous or something more serious?

And what of universities that have accommodated the mediocrity instead of maintaining standards?
