A recently retired Cook County sheriff’s officer assigned to Cook County Board President John Stroger’s security detail for the past seven years has been named the new police chief for the Forest Preserve District.
Richard Waszek, 52, will earn $82,500 when he replaces Charles Coleman, who announced his retirement last August.
