As it turns out, the Rose Bowl was moved to Miami with Iowa facing Southern Cal. Washington State faces Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in Pasadena. Don’t worry if your TV listings have them reversed.
2. Hoosier hysteria
Isiah Thomas was ticketed with failure to obey the police early Sunday. Reports said the officers didn’t know who Thomas was or that he coached the Pacers. Reports didn’t say the cops obviously aren’t from Indiana.

Nomar Garciaparra and soccer star Mia Hamm are engaged. Garciaparra proposed over the Thanksgiving holiday after he got on one knee, adjusted his gloves, rehearsed the words a few times, adjusted his gloves again, got back up, back down, wiped off his shoe, cleared his throat and then finally delivered the pitch.
