Among New Year’s Eve procrastinators, we’re what’s known as an enabler.
That’s because our Last-Minute New Year’s Eve Guide is practically a reward for indecision. On these pages, we’ve listed nearly 100 restaurants in the city and suburbs, all of whom are saving tables for Friday readers.
Thinking, at this late date, that you would like to dine at Trio, one of the top restaurants in the country? We’ve got a table. How about Ambria, Spiaggia, Le Titi de Paris, Les Deux Gros, Tru or Zealous? Got ’em all.
And, recognizing that New Year’s Eve isn’t just about fine dining, arts reporter Chris Jones has secured tickets to some of the hottest theater productions in town (see page 3).
All you have to do is call. Well, that and be the first to ask for the special Tribune table (a couple of places require a password as well, so read carefully), and you’ll be able to claim that reservation or buy those theater tickets.
Note well the use of the word “buy.” These dinners and tickets are not free; they’re not even discounted. The deal is that they’re available. When does anyone ever get into Tru, much less on one of the biggest dining-out nights of the year, on four days’ notice?
In nearly every instance, a non-refundable credit-card deposit or full prepayment is required (to protect against no-shows at this late date). Listed prices were correct at the time this package was assembled, but last-minute changes occasionally occur. Verify all relevant information when making the reservation.
Please note that in some cases, the number to call for the Tribune table is not the main number for the restaurant. In one or two cases, a particular person must be contacted. If you call before the restaurant opens, do not assume that a voice-message request will be honored.
Unless indicated otherwise, all prices are per person and do not include tax, tip or alcoholic beverages.
Good luck and start dialing.
