Edward L. Ryan, Jr., 90, of Bowling Green, KY, died at 3:45 a.m. December 31, 2002. The Chicago native was employed 47 years by The Kendall Company, moving to Bowling Green in 1963 to help establish the Kendall Adhesive plant in Franklin, KY, where he was the purchasing agent until his retirement in 1976. He was an advocate for senior rights, actively participating in AARP, serving as State Coordinator, local Chapter President, and State Director of the 55 Alive Driving education program; member of BRADD Council on Aging; advising small business development with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce SCORE; representing seniors on the Bell South Consumer advisory board; and further serving on the B.G. Human Rights Commission. The funeral mass will be at 12 noon Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was a member, building committee member and supporter of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with vigil at 8 p.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, Bowling Green, KY. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was the son of the late Edward L. Ryan and Johanna Hosmer Ryan of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret V. Ryan. Survivors include five children: Edward L. Ryan III, Elgin, SC, Marianne Ryan Hamilton, CPA, Bellevue, WA, Judge Margaret Ryan Huddleston, Bowling Green, Kathleen Ryan Foust, Louisville, Jo-Anne Ryan Davis, Bowling Green; and eight grandchildren.
