Coca-Cola is making over its image in a new advertising campaign that focuses less on being “the real thing” and more on being “real.”
Stars will help push the new mantra, some in ads that are less than glamorous. Actress Penelope Cruz, for example, chugs a Coke, then belches. In another spot, “Friends” star Courteney Cox Arquette uses an ice pick to make a cold one for husband David Arquette.
The ads begin running Monday. Other commercials will feature R&B artists, sportscasters–even NASCAR drivers–as well as young people at school and playing video games.
Coke officials say recent campaigns lost touch with young adults.
