This is regarding “Why I drive an SUV in the big city” (Voice of the people, Jan. 3). How lame can a defense of SUVs get?
Letter writer Heather Johnstone blames her rather suspicious “long history of being rear-ended” on driving a regular-size car. And she attributes her own admitted recklessness–speeding, running stoplights and darting around pedestrians–to driving a regular-size car.
Now, however, because she drives an SUV, other drivers allow her to drive properly and “generally obey traffic laws.” What a hoot.
Next time I’m intimidated by a bully in an SUV, I’ll look to see if it’s Johnstone.
