Kenneth A. Graves, born March 26, 1917, passed on to eternal life Jan. 19, 2003, at 85. A World War II Veteran who was married for 62 years to Florence, nee Hayna; loving father to Jeanne (John) Walsh, Donald (Kathleen), Laverne Hall and Loretta (Nicholas) Koulias; cherished Grandpa to Jim Walsh, Julie (Paul) Jacobs, Brian Hall, Michelle Koulias, Lisa Koulias, Paul (Jennifer) Keyes and Dorian (Andrew) Heschel; great-Grandpa to Brian and Alexander Keyes; fond first cousin of Mary Jane (the late William) Miller and “Uncle Ken” to her family; dear brother-in-law and uncle to many. He was the American Legion 6th District Past Commander, Life member, Current Adjutant; American Legion Robert Woodburn Post #1037 Past Commander, Life member, Current Adjutant and Finance Officer; VFW Park Ridge Post #3579 Life member; DeSoto Council Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Knight and Office Management Association Past President two terms. He worked for Kraft Foods for 26 years, Whizz Office Services for nine years and retired from Illinois State Chamber of Commerce after 15 years. Visitation Tuesday, from 1:30 to 9 p.m., at the Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral Home, 6471 N. Northwest Hwy. ( one block north of Devon), Chicago. Funeral Wednesday, 9 a.m., to Immaculate Conception Church (Chicago) for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, all monetary donations received will be donated to a program he was devoted to, the “Gift to the Yanks” Program of the American Legion Robert Woodburn Post #1037 in memory of Ken Graves.
