Winning the (mostly) truth in advertising award, “Jon Rauhouse’s Steel Guitar Air Show” features the steel guitarist’s collaborations with a variety of like-minded musicians, from singers Neko Case, Sally Timms and Kelly Hogan, to Kevin O’Donnell and Calexico. Crossing old-time Western swing with a hint of Hawaiian music, the disc shows off Rauhouse’s dreamy but lively steel work. Songs like “The Glow Worm” and “The World Is Waiting for a Sunrise” are played with just the right amount of irony, while Rauhouse’s own compositions slip inconspicuously into the mix.
